2011 Snowbird Oktoberfest

Believe it or not it's already time to start dusting off that German kellnerin costume and those lederhosen because it's Oktoberfest time once again!

Starting this Saturday - August 20, 2011 the 39th annual Snowbird Oktoberfest begins. Oktoberfest Halle located in the Snowbird Event tent is chock full of music, dancing and traditional German cuisine including bratwurst, sauerkraut, apfelstrudel and of course local craft beers.

The Alphorns also perform on Hidden Peak everyday of Oktoberfest at 3:15 p.m. Oktoberfest runs through October 9th every weekend, so there's plenty of time to take it all in.

There's one tiny thing that irks me about this Oktoberfest... No damn Märzen! How can you have an Oktoberfest without the traditional beer?! I guess I'm going to have to make it my personal crusade to get one of the beer providers to make a special Oktoberfest style beer for 19 day festival... Just say'n.

And speaking of Märzens - Hoppers' Brewmaster and Secret Agent, Donovan Steele will have his Oktoberfest beer, Stein Knockers available for the Upcoming City Weekly Beerfest. If your not sure what a Märzen is? try this one, and you'll know why the style should be represented at Snowbird.

Prost!

I've been waiting for some new Marzens to come out! Good thing Hoppers is just a hop, skip, and a jump down the street!

Belgian beer is good and all, but I've been waiting for the German styles to start flowing.

RedRock's German lager line-up for Oktoberfest should be coming out within the next month or so. I expect it'll make you a happy Plang.

After last year, I am not going unless I hear that things are different. If you get there later than 3 or so the lines are 20 minutes. Most of the breweries didn't bring near enough beer and therefore the lines for those still pouring were enormous. A cluster to say the least. The location and idea is great, they just need more organization and way more beer.

Dougie, I think you might be confusing Oktoberfest with Snowbird's beerfest. Oktoberfest is set up differently.

Oh yeah, sorry guys I meant the beerfest. Oktoberfest is a couple weeks event right? The Oktoberfest is fun. Wasatch Autumn Bock is awesome.
